Privacy policy

Last updated: 10 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information I collect when you use this website, why, and what your rights are. I keep it to the minimum I need.

Who I am

This website is run by Chaos Theory Studios Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 11666193). Registered office: Preston Park House, South Road, Brighton, BN1 6SB. I’m the data controller for the information described here.

You can contact me about privacy at contact@chaostheorystudios.co or on 07951 478507.

Enquiries

When you send an enquiry through the contact form, I collect your name, email address and message, plus your company, phone number and type of business if you choose to give them. If you email or phone me, I collect the details you share.

I use these details only to reply to your enquiry and, if you ask, to discuss working together. I don’t use them for marketing. The lawful basis is my legitimate interest in responding to you, or taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.

Form enquiries are delivered by email using Microsoft Azure Communication Services, with data stored in the UK. The website itself doesn’t keep a copy, and its logs don’t record your details. Enquiries are then held in my business email account, provided by IONOS.

Booking a call

If you book a call, you use Calendly, a separate scheduling service. Calendly collects the details you enter, such as your name and email address, and shares them with me so I can hold the call. Calendly’s own privacy policy applies to its service.

Website analytics

With your consent only, I use Google Analytics to understand how people use this website, such as which pages are visited and roughly where visitors are. Google Analytics uses cookies, which are only set if you select “Accept analytics cookies”. The lawful basis is your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time using “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page. See the cookie policy for details.

Google processes this data on my behalf and may process it outside the UK, including in the United States. Google protects these transfers using the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses approved for UK data transfers.

Technical information

Like any website, the hosting service (Microsoft Azure) processes technical information such as IP addresses to deliver pages and keep the site secure.

How long I keep information

  • Enquiries: if an enquiry doesn’t lead to work, I delete it after 1 year. If it does, I keep it with the project records for 6 years after the project ends, as HMRC requires for business records.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics keeps data linked to cookies and visitor identifiers for 2 months, then deletes it. Overall reports of total visits are kept.

Who I share it with

I never sell your information. I use these service providers, who process it on my behalf:

  • Microsoft (website hosting and enquiry email delivery)
  • IONOS (business email)
  • Calendly (call booking)
  • Google (website analytics, only with your consent)

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how it’s used, and to have it transferred. Where I rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To use any of these rights, email contact@chaostheorystudios.co. I’ll respond within one month.

Complaints

If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, please tell me first so I can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

I’ll update this page if anything changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
